There may be times when you need to make a correction to the year-to-date figures for a previous tax year. To do this, you can use the Previous Year Update (PYU) wizard.

πŸ“ŒNote: If you need to correct the 2019/20 tax year or earlier, you need to use HMRC Basic Tools instead.

  1. Click Submissions and Notices, and then click Previous Year Update.

  2. Click Ok, enter the required search criteria to find the employee.

πŸ€“Tip: Enter the required tax year into the Year Starting 6 April field.

  3. Click Search, then select the checkbox next to the employee code.

  4. Click Enter Adjustments, then enter the adjustments into the middle column.

πŸ“ŒNote: Confirm the Adjusted YTD column contains the expected values.

  5. Click Submit to send the adjustment to HMRC.
