You may need to postpone auto-enrollment for a new member of staff for several reasons, such as being a temporary worker, waiting for probationary periods, or waiting for a scheme to be established. To do this, follow the sections below.

πŸ€“Tip: If you need to set up automatic postponement for all new employees, review our guide on automatic enrolment pensions.

Run auto-enrolment

Before a postponement date can be entered, the employee must have been previously assessed. If the employee needs to be assessed, follow the steps below.

  1. Click Employees, then click Pension.

  2. Click Pension Control.

  3. Click Update, then click Auto Enrolment.

  4. Click Yes, then review the pension status for each employee.

You will need to assign a pension pay element to all eligible employees.

Enter a postpontment date

Entering a postponement date will change the employee's pension status to not determined until auto-enrolment is processed again at the end of their postponement period.

  1. Click Employees, then click Pension.

  2. Click Pension Control.

  3. Find and select the required employee.

  4. Click Edit, and then enter a Postponed Date.

  5. Click Save.
