Enable NEST pension and create a scheme

Turn on NEST and create a new NEST pension scheme.

NEST (National Employment Savings Trust) is one of many pension schemes that you can use to auto-enrolment employees. Once you are activated with NEST, you can create a scheme in Access Payroll. To do this, follow the sections below.

๐Ÿ“ŒNote: If you have more than one NEST group or use multiple pension providers in the same pay frequency, you will need to update the system pension defaults before producing a report for each pension provider.

Create a NEST scheme

Group

  1. Click System, and click Configuration.

  2. Click Pensions, and then click Group.

  3. Click New, enter a group name.

  4. Click the pension provider dropdown and click NEST.

  5. Click Save.

Payment source

  1. Click System, and click Configuration.

  2. Click Pensions, and then click Payment Source.

  3. Click New, enter a payment source name.

  4. Click the pension provider dropdown and click NEST.

  5. Click Save.

Pension default

  1. Click System, and click Configuration.

  2. Click Pensions, and then click Pension Defaults.

  3. Click Edit, and then click the pension provider dropdown and click NEST.

  4. Enter the payment reference provided by NEST.

    ๐Ÿค“Tip: The payment reference will be three letters, followed by nine numbers.

  5. Click the group magnifying glass icon.

  6. Click the required group.

  7. Click the payment group magnifying glass icon.

  8. Click the required payment group.

  9. Click the pension export drop-down, and click the desired export format.

  10. Click Save.


Create NEST pay element

  1. Click System, and then click Pay Elements.

  2. Click New, enter a pay element code.

  3. Click the Type drop-down, and click Deductions.

  4. Enter a quantity of '1.00', and then select the Pension checkbox.

  5. If required, click the Multiple checkbox.

  6. Click the Pension tab, click the pension provider drop-down.

  7. Click NEST.

    ๐Ÿ“ŒNote: The group and payment source will auto-fill from the system pension defaults set.

  8. Enter the fixed value for Employee and Employer contributions.

  9. Click Save.
