To pay SSP and reclaim it from HMRC, you will need to create a parental leave record for the employee. To do this, follow the steps below.

⚠️Important:

  • Don't enter a payment finish date, as it will immediately end the record.

  • Don't enter weeks used or paid, unless TUPE'ing an employee on parental leave.

🤓Tip: Paternity records require the actual date of birth. Due to this, we recommended that you create the record once you have been given this information.

  1. Click Employees, and then click Records.

  2. Find the relevant employee, and click View Record .

  3. Click the Parental Pay tab, next to the relevant section, click Add .

  4. Enter the expected date of birth and select the Evidence Received checkbox.

  5. Click OK, then enter the actual date of birth.

  6. Enter the first day of leave, and then the week 1 payment start date.

  7. If required, enter the week 2 payment start date.

  8. If required, select the align to pay date checkbox.

  9. Click Save.
